Call to Members: 73rd Annual Exhibition

The Committee is excited to announce the call to artists for our upcoming exhibition in August 2026, and we warmly invite you to be part of it. Submissions are now open and the deadline for entry is midnight on Friday, 19th June 2026.

This exhibition will bring together a diverse and inspiring range of work, celebrating creativity, skill, and fresh perspectives. Whether you are an established practitioner or emerging talent, we would love to hear from you and see what you are currently making.

Submission, Selection Notification & Handing In Day

Submission process: we are continuing to use the OESS (Open Exhibition Selection Services) online system; a simple process which most artists find very straightforward. OESS will give you guidance if needed.

Selection Notification date: Preselection Notice to Artists will be available on Wednesday 1st July. 

Handing In Day: we will receive those works at the Memorial Hall on Saturday, 15th August (individual times TBA).

Our awards include the Joy Barnes Award for the Best overall artwork and the Joy Barnes Runner Up Award.

Other awards on offer are:

·      Portraite/Figure·      Drawing·      Still Life/Floral
·      Original Print·      Landscape·      Abstract
·      Mixed Media·      Sculpture 

Please make sure you read all the relevant details in the Terms and Conditions on the OESS site and note the submission sizes and restrictions in particular:

·      All entries must be less than 120cm in any one direction including the frame. 

·      If any one piece of work is over 70cm in any one direction including the frame, please reduce your submission by 1 (from 5 to 4) Likewise for any further pieces over 70cm.  

·      Unframed box canvasses must have a minimum depth of 4cm or 3.8cm due to commercial type.    

·      The Society reserves the right to refuse work on delivery should the frame be substandard.
