Astrig is a full time British painter based in Frome, Somerset working in acrylics and mixed media. She has a playful narrative style which includes a confident use of colour and composition.

“I depict flora and fauna based around allotments, figures and animals, domestic and wild and their interconnections. All of these loves and themes have gradually found each other in my paintings”

“Working on wooden panels, I prefer to work in a series, moving initially swiftly from panel to panel, slowing down and becoming more considered as the pieces reach their conclusions. Each painting gradually reveals its own story. I enjoy this process and it’s unpredictability. “

Astrig has a background of painting and art finishing within the creature and effects departments of the film industry spanning 27 years. She has a degree in Ceramics from the Central School of Art and Design. She sells her current work through galleries, open studios and online.
