Margaret Kelly lives locally in the village of Bayford. She was brought up in the beautiful Pennines and wonderful South Lakeland. She trained to teach, specialising in French and Music, spending a year at the Sorbonne in Paris, studying not only the French language, but also French Art.
She taught in Manchester, Essex, Surrey and Somerset in both Secondary and Primary Schools, as well as in Adult Education.
The special influences of her Victorian grandfather’s and her own father’s photography, father’s analytical chemistry experiments to produce artificial silk out of nettles, mother’s artistic skills as a painter and writer, their love of colour, especially in their numerous cottage gardens, all shaped and inspired Margaret’s life.
Colour, its vibrancy and juxtaposition, have always been keenly felt by Margaret, and trying through different media to reproduce the joy felt in witnessing Nature’s miraculous beauty is forever her passion.
Her outlet for creativity has never ceased to console through bereavement, calm and soothe through the ups and downs in this noisy, hectic world.
“Life beats down and crushes the soul and art reminds you that you have one.” (source unknown)
