During the First World War Constance Bailward worked as a nursing auxiliary in the Red Cross Hospital for war wounded in Wincanton and produced a series of drawings for a planned alpha bet which are currently being exhibited in Wincanton Library. With the help of her son and granddaughter we have uncovered the story of her extra-ordinary life which included membership of BAS. Read her story and see some of her work.
